The Fleetaways is an indie folk duo whose influences include Americana, country-rock, and the classic harmonies of bands like the Mama’s & The Papas. Made up of co-founders/co-songwriters Jenna Laurenzo & Michael Browne, the two NJ natives, met on the elevator of the Elevator JC building in Jersey City. The fated elevator ride revealed they shared twin Sanskrit tattoos, a love of thrill seeking travel and a desire for music making as a duo, so an instantaneous decision to collaborate was made. Jenna is an award-winning director, writer, and actress who threw herself into music during the pandemic when she wrote The River, a song for a short film she released as a follow-up to her viral hit Girl Night Stand. Michael’s a classically trained guitarist who honed his craft under the guidance of Roland Dynes and is a multi instrumental producer at his recording studio, Synesthetic Studio in Jersey City. Their uncanny connection continued with the discovery that both Jenna and Michael have had near-death experiences. Their debut single GOODBYE came out of those flashes of life that happen on the precipice of Nevermore. Sharing a deep curiosity about the transience of life, their upcoming album was born out of a deep longing to capture life’s fleeting moments and feelings. And so their name “The Fleetaways” was born.
